Task 2

Mannequin diptych

this is my first diptych that i have made. diptych is a picture made out f two pictures put together to represent a whole. there are two pictures. one of the pictures is the mannequin and another picture of the model. i tried veryhard to place both, the model and the mannequine in the same position. The mannequin was supposed to sit on the bench but because I could not sit it on the bench because it has a stand I placed it on the bench in the same position that I thought before. The mannequin position is in the air but the legs are crossed over knee on knee. But because I could not cross over the legs on the mannequin properly it doesn’t really look the same as the model that I made. I tried to place the model which was Marcelina in the same position. I tried to take both of the pictures in the same angle which was eye level but in my over pictures i have also used different angles but they havent worked as well. I tried to take the two pictures from the same distance but It didn’t quite work out because the mannequin pictures is zoomed in. this is because the mannequin is a lot smaller then the human and it would be impossible to tae the same picturre with the mannequin and with the human, Over all I like the effect of the picture I think it looks quite the same and I tried my best to put the model in the same position as the mannequin . i also tried to use the same settings on the camera because the lightening was natural and it was at the same time so the settings should have been the same. In some pictures the settings have changed because of the distance and the size of the mannequin.

this is my first diptych that i have made

this is another of my amazing diptych that i have leart how to create very well. The mannequin is placed in the arch way. I placed mannequin standing with the hands on the hips and the legs standing little bit apart. The mannequin was facing forwards. It was very easy to place the mannequin in the position that I wanted because it was standing up and it was very easy. I placed the model in the same position her hads were on her hips and the legs a little bit apart and she was looking forward as well. I took this picture from the same distance as you can see. And the angle of the picture was the same as well. I shot it from low angle so I could get the whole arch way into the picture. i tried to use the same settings on the camera because the light was the same and the pictures were taken one after the over.

The last diptych was my favourite one that I have done. The diptych is made out of two pictures one is the picture of the mannequin and second one is the picture of my model. I like how this picture works out because the pose of the mannequin and the model is the same. The position of the legs the hands the face is all the same. The mannequin in the picture is closed up so you can see that it’s holding the barrier. I didn't take the picture in the same distance. Because my model is a lot bigger than the mannequin I could not fit her whole body in the same frame so I hade to use a different distance. for these pictures i used different settings because the mannequin was a lot smaller and i wanted too get a great depth of field. and i did get the effect that i wanted. thats why this is one on my favourite diptychs because the mannequin and th model look exactly the same.

This is the last diptych that i have made. in this diptych the mannqein is stood inside a phone box. because the mannequin is small I  could not put it on he floor because then it would not give he same effect to the picture. I quite like this picture but its not one of my favourite ones because i didnt place themodel in the sameposition her hands and legs are different then the legs and hands with the mannequin.for booth pictures i tried to use the same angle. but i have tried to make a lot of different angles. i even tried to use the rule of thirds which didn't quit work out as i wanted. so for the next time when im doing a diptych i will know that I need to work more on telling the model how she needs to pose and how she needs gto stand. because its the photographers job to tell the model what he expects from her. i tried to use the same settings in both pictures and in this one it worked out well because i did use the same settings.

Planning photo-shoot

Plan for my first Photoshoot

1.       This photo shoot will be done in evening time, because im not able to do this at a different time. I will use the light that’s evening light that will be at about 5 o’clock.  And the shot will be done today
2.       I will use a model which is my friend. I will use a more classic style. She will have a deep purple dress on her which is knee high.  with black tight or with no tight, but im not sure about that yet. she will have nice silver jewellery on her that will match and enhance the dress. I will also make her wear high hills so that they match the dress and give it even more classic look. I have done some research about the make up that will look glamorous so she will have nice dark lipstick on her, it will be red to contrast with the dress or a brawn colour to harmonies it. Also I will use gold and white shadows for her eyes to enchant her beauty. Her hair will be up in a bun. Because mostly buns give you this classy look.
3.       The location that I will try to use will be the back of my house. Behind my house there is a washing space that is separated with a wooden fence. I will use that fence and that  location to make the picture. I think that this will give me a nice contras between the glamorous model and the rough kind of location that she will be in.
4.       The scale time will be : to get the model ready it will take me about 1 hour, in this 1 hour I will be making the makeup for 30 minutes and for the rest it will be dressing up the model and trying to match the jewellery. Setting up equipment and checking the position that I should be shooting in will take me about 20 minutes. The whole process of taking pictures will take me about 1 hour.
5.       For this shoot will be probably using some natural light, but because it will be after 5 o’clock it might get a little dark so I might be using a flash light to highlight the face.
6.       I will give the model a release model form to sign. Because she is over 18 she can sign it her self without her parents permission. we have to do the model release for because if the model then decides that the pictures cant be used for anything then the pictures cant be used for nothing. the release for is used to secure are formalities between the photographer and the model.
7.       I will have to fill in a risk assessment to I know exactly what the risks can be and what I should be careful on what I should avoid.  For example , because the fence is wooden so I will have to careful for my model so she doesn't get a splinter in her body.
8.       Because I will be on occasion I will have to make sure that I have all my equipment with me. I will probably need a stand and extra batteries.  I might also need a flash light to help me get the models face visible.  in my photo-shoot i will use my standard lens, which is 18mm – 105mm f4.5. i will use this lens because this is the only lens that i have. but in my opinion all pictures can be done greatly with any lens.
9.       To be prepared  for any situation I will have some different dresses prepared in my bedroom for the model to change in quickly like different.. If the weather will not work out as planned I will try to change the date for a nicer weather. If my model would not turn up I would talk some dresses and take pictures of them without the model in the picture. i have also thought about different locations that i can use in case this one will not work out. it is very important to have different ideas planned in case the one you have planed as the main one doesn't work out.

Lenses  there are many different lenses that are used in photography. each of the lenses is used for different type of photography and for different kind of shots :
50mm lens is a fixed focal lenses. these lenses are great for low low photography. it has a very wide aperture of f1.8. it is a lot different from typical kit lest which is usually f5.6. there is more light coming through these lens opening. this will allow you to use a faster shutter speed or a lower iso to get a better quality of the picture . you could even use a combination of to to get a nice finish result. with this lens you can get an amazing effect of bokeh because the f1.8 aperture. the lights in the background with this lens can really make an interesting effect. 50mm lens also has super sharpness. 85mm lens its an ideal portrait length because it keeps it close to the subject without showing any distortion. these lenses are very sharp and render the background out of focus the way that it is nice to the eye. this lens can be used for many different events like concerts. it is very important to have a good lens which will capture the movement without blurring it , as the artist usually move a lot around. for weddings perhaps it’s the most important lens The reason for this is not only the combination of light weight, fast aperture, sharpness and discreteness, but also the fact that the lens is so versatile in this situation. Another lens that most people use at the beginning is a 18-55mm lens is a kit lens usually together with the camera body when buying the camera. its not the best lens that you can have but its good enough to get you started. wide angle lens which is 16-35mm. These lesnes photograph wider angle pictures. this lens has more peripheral vision , which means we can see more of what is to the over side. because of its effect most people use the wide angle lens for landscapes because the wide angeled lens pulls more of the landscape into the picture. the wide angle lest is also perfect for architectural and inertial pictures. It is also a perfect lens for panoramic landscape photos. another great lens is a eye fish lens which is 10-16mm. eye fish effect can be a great effect for many pictures. with this lens you could get very creative. you can get beautiful landscapes which don’t look like they have an fish eye effect. it coulb be also used for making great photographs of the whole ceilings.Fish eye lens offer a full 180-degree viewing angle, but the image is distorted so that it looks like the centre of an image is closer to you and the edges look like they’re disappearing. the last lense that I will write about is an 70-120mm lens which is a long lens. this lens makes subject that are far away appear closer .

Techniques for my photoshoot  I will do 2 or 3 photo-shoots so for each of my photo-shoots I would like to use different techniques. i would like to use and experiment with the angles that I will use. the angles that I can use are low angle, high angle, eye angle, worms eye, birds eye. for the first photo-shoot I will concentrate to use the eye level and the worm angle. because my model will be hight and on hills worms eye pictures might l;ook very interesting. as well as that I can use eye level angle for this shot to make her just normal. as everyone would see it. because it’s a fashion shoot I think that the eye level would work the best because then she can look into the camera and you could see her eyes very clearly. I will try to all these pictures portraits. I will try to use different techniques in photo-shop as well. for example I will change the colour to black and white or use colour popping effect. I will also use a vintage border around some pictures to make an nice effect. I will also try to experiment with depth of field to get nice creative pictures.I am also going to use the rule of third as well as golden section technique to help me position the model and the rest of the equipment in the right place.  for the second shoot I will try to experiment more with the depth of field to create nice effect. I will also try to use different angles but the main angle that I want to use for this shoot will be worms eye. my idea is to make all of the pictures from this photo-shoot black and white. I will use the rule of thirds as much as I can and the golden selection as well.

Task 1B

Location photography  In photography most of the times if the photography is made in a locaional area, the location matters more then the model. this is because the location can bring out losts of different things in the picture, for exaple it can bring out the natural beauty in the model, it can give a new level of creativity and also it can give a beautifull contast or can harmonise the picture.  there is a lot of different places where location photography can be done actually it can be any place that is within a location.  One of places that is used for location photography is the outside. the natural light that you can use outside is the best light for natural shots in my opinion. if there is a lot of sunlight it might help the model to get inspired and for the photographer to take some more exiting shots. when you are outside try to use the nature of outside as best as you can for your advantage. you can try a lot of different things and try to create different shots for example have ur model sit on a branch or on the middle of field. Try to contras the picture or harmonize to add beauty and elegance to the photo.          another place that you can find at  a location is a warehouse. when taking pictures in a warehouse you can use the inside of it to creates lots of cool effects. you can use the old warehouse in order to add an edgy feeling. the shadow in the warehouse can give the picture an interesting effect.  the subject in the picture can hav either contrasting colours that are vibrate and stand out or use some dark clothes that wil harmonise the picture.  an urban ocation could also be a very creative  idea. use underground subways, or any other urban location. in this shots you can play a little bit with the contrast between the location and the model. for example the colours or the style of clothes.  You can go around and maybe even find some landmarks or statues to get a different background. there are many kind of backgrounds that give different feelings to the picture. a shopping mall will give the picture a busy kind of environment, a picnic table will give a picture more of an comfortable feel. With different seasons you can create different feeling for the picture. there will be different lightening so it is important to experiment on different lighting during different seasons.  the beauty of fall and winter can bring out all of the vibrant fashion in photos.
